The Interview

The NVC will mail you a letter when it sends your fiancé(e) case to the U.S. Embassy or Consulate.

The Consular Section will contact fiancée visa applicants to schedule their appointment. It is each applicant’s responsibility to come to the Consular Section for their appointment as scheduled.  If it is not possible to keep an appointment for any reason, the applicant must e-mail KinshasaIV@state.gov to reschedule the appointment before the expiration of the Fiancé petition. If an applicant fails to attend an appointment as scheduled, and fails to notify the Consular Section in advance, no action will be taken on the case. Applicants who have missed an appointment should NOT take it upon themselves to appear when it is convenient for them.

Eligible children of K-1 visa applicants may apply for K-2 visas. Separate visa applications must be submitted for each K visa applicant, and each K visa applicant must pay the visa application fee.

Each applicant should bring their passport and evidence demonstrating their claimed relationship with the petitioner, e.g. photos, emails, or copies of text messages. The applicant will be interviewed by a commissioned Consular Officer who will determine the applicant’s qualifications for the visa.
