Ambassador Hammer cuts the ribbon to the American Center

Starting tomorrow, the new Phillis Wheatley American Center is open to the public! U.S. Ambassador, Mike Hammer, launched the new American Center in Kinshasa on Tuesday June 11, 2019, explaining to the audience of local press and U.S. Embassy Kinshasa exchange program participants invited to the event its purpose as a public space for Congolese to visit and learn about U.S. culture, values, English language and much more.

The Phillis Wheatley American Center’s collection on American culture is made up of printed materials including over 4,000 books in English and French, as well as various electronic resources. It is open Monday to Thursday and entrance is free.
