Security Message for U.S. Citizens: Gunfire Reported in Kinshasa

The U.S. Embassy has received reports of gunfire in the following areas of Kinshasa:

  • Bandal
  • Ngiri-Ngiri
  • Makal
  • Matadi Road near Ngaliema
  • Matete

The exact nature of the incidents remains unconfirmed at this time, and contacts in multiple neighborhoods may be reporting the same incidents.

Review your personal security plans, remain aware of your surroundings, including local events, and monitor local news stations for updates.  Be vigilant and take appropriate steps to enhance your personal security.
