On January 13, 2017 representatives of DRC religious communities gathered at the CEPAS (Centre d’Etudes Pour l’Action Sociale) around US Embassy Kinshasa’s Chargé d’affaires Mr. David Brown for a discussion on the emerging role of faith-based organizations in civil society in the DRC. Over 100 participants attended the discussion, organized by the Congo American Language Institute (CALI) ahead of the Martin Luther King Day celebrated on Monday, January 16 in the United States at the same time as Religious Freedom Day .
