The Strategic Information Team of CDC DRC’s Division of Global HIV and TB plays a crucial role in supporting the PEPFAR and national HIV response in DRC. Through close collaboration with local (the National AIDS control Program) and multilateral (UNAIDS, The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, TB and Malaria) including:
- Providing technical and financial support for routine HIV-related data systems, including data systems involves in routine patient management, program monitoring, and indicator reporting
- Providing technical and financial support for HIV-related health informatics projects, such as health management information systems
- Providing technical support to HIV-related, epidemiological studies, such as: HIV sentinel surveillance among pregnant women attending antenatal clinics, integrated bio-behavioral surveillance among key and priority populations
- Providing technical support to program and system evaluation activities
- Providing technical support to strengthen local capacity in data management and use
- Providing technical support for the development of standards and normative documents related to HIV-related data
In addition, the Strategic Information team specifically supports PEPFAR-funded HIV-control activities (such as HIV testing and HIV clinical services) by supporting:
- The routine collection, management, reporting and use of PEPFAR program data
- PEPFAR data reporting, analysis and quality monitoring systems and tools
- PEPFAR program monitoring and management tools
