The U.S. Embassy in Kinshasa offers its deepest condolences for the loss of life, livelihoods, and homes due to devastating flooding in South Kivu Province’s Kalehe Territory in early May. In support of the DRC’s flood response efforts and in recognition of urgent humanitarian needs among flood-affected communities, the United States through the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) is currently assessing the most pressing needs of the affected communities and coordinating closely with the Government of the DRC and other humanitarian partners to guarantee the efficient and effective delivery of assistance.
USAID partners in South Kivu are currently coordinating urgently needed support for flood-affected populations, including emergency relief, food, health care provisions, multipurpose cash assistance, as well as water, sanitation, and hygiene support.
