Senior English Language Fellow Bryce Smedley conducted a three day workshop with local secondary school teachers in Kisangani, Orientale Province. During this workshop, teachers got the chance to use new teaching resources and learn ways to incorporate issues like democracy, gender equality, human rights and diversity into English lessons. They also learned new methodologies to make their classrooms more interactive and dynamic.
For most of the teachers this was the first English language workshop they have ever attended. They have been able to learn about U.S. Embassy related activities and MOOCs.
Eighty Kisangani secondary school teachers have completed this CALI English Teacher Training workshop. Her Excellence Marguerite Niki Imayondo the provincial Education minister handed out certificates to trained teachers during the closing ceremony.
