Over thirty participants from the film industry in Kinshasa attended workshops focused on editing ,marketing and distribution of films. These workshops organized by the US Embassy Kinshasa, The Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA) and the American Film Showcase took place from March 20th to March 28th 2017 and they were led by film experts Ramona Diaz and Laura Nix. Participants worked for five days on their editing skills , working on documentary that they shot prior to the workshop dealing with women’s issues. Following the editing sessions , they went on to focus on the marketing and financing of documentaries also covering copyright issues. These workshops not only empowered the participants via capacity building workshops but it also provided a platform to discuss women’s issues using films.
